My interests these days are relative to living in Sri Lanka, I do still love to read books at the moment i am well into the series written about ancient Egypt written by Christain Jacq. I love my dogs we have two, both dobermanns one female one a male. Their names are male Lucky the female is called Judi. They are very loving and as we teach English in our home they are good with all the students. I am very committed to the teaching of English. I am thrilled to see the improvement in my students and it shows hard work pays. I love to travel and I also have a love of gardening, however all my teaching commitments does limit this activitiy. I think to date I have been to something like 35 different countries, I have a real love to travel to see the different cultures as well as the people themselves. I am interested in watching most sport but I am afraid football bores me these days but I do watch an occasional game if it is worth watching. I used to be a very keen ten-pin bowling scratch league player in England, as we have two centres here it is now longer possible. However when we visit Colombo the capital here in Sri Lanka sometimes we are able to go for a bowl but not like I used to play because I cannot do the practice. I am very keen to help the local population and we operate a project fund which allows us to help the people here in Sri Lanka as well as the local village school.I try to play my part in this village and try to help and attend fuctions that are held so they see we wish to be part of this village. If anyone would like to see what activities that my wife Hazel and myself are involved in please have a look on our website www.gandhducation.com it give some of the things we do but the website needs some time spent on it as we have had some problems with our server, in UK who host this site and it has had a lot of material which has to be re -loaded owing to these problems. English is a very important subject but this country needs support, many people struggle just to survive on a daily basis, we do what we can but it only helps a very few. We run a small project fund but the demand is far far greater than the actual fund but we do what we can within the limited resources.

Since coming here in May 2002, we have been struck how much is needed in the country. We do what we can but it is anly a small portion of what really needs to be done.
Yes we riun classes to help the locals mainly as I have said in my basic information to help people to improve their English. However there is such a huge need and we cannot hope to address years of neglet, yes the Government do try but with so limited resources it is almost impossible. This is a very educated population but with turmoil that has affected this country for over 22 years it is very hard to see any real progress. yes we are seing improvements in our local town or old city called Galle but it is painfully slow.
We operate a website called gandheduation.com if anyone is interested in seing any of our limited projects yes we would love to do more but we are unable to do more from our resources.
